1915 Canakkale Bridge World’s Longest Suspension Bridge


Canakkale 1915 Bridge which will be the world’s longest suspension bridge will be completed in 2023, 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey.
 Canakkale 1915 Bridge which will be the world’s longest suspension bridge will be completed in 2023, 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. 31 viaducts, 5 tunnels, 30 interchanges and 143 underpasses and overpasses will be built along the 354 km highway within the scope of the project. Decks of Canakkale 1915 Bridge, which will be the longest suspension bridge in the world with the span of 2023 meters between abutments, are planned to have a width of 36 meters and height of 5 meters. Abutments of the bridge with the length of 3869 meters will be constructed in the sea. Approaching viaduct on Lapseki side of the bridge will be 650 meters while the same on Gelibolu side will be 900 meters long. 10 billion 354 million 576 thousand and 202 Turkish Liras will be spent for the bridge which is to be awarded through a build-operate-transfer model bid. This bridge, which will be constructed between Lapseki and Gelibolu, will be the first suspension bridge in Gallipoli Strait whilst it is the fifth in Marmara Region. The bridge will be constructed to be durable against earthquakes and strong winds, and will have six lanes. The highway between Istanbul-Silivri and Balikesir-Savastepe, to which Canakkale 1915 Bridge will be integrated, will have the length of 354 kilometers and this highway will also be connected to Gebze-Izmir highway.
